MGM Innova, MicroCarbon Develoment Fund (MCDF), Panasonic & the government of the State of Baja California have launched the "Casa Verde" pilot project in Mexicali

October 17, 2011. MGM Innova & MCDF in collaboration with Panasonic presented to the Government of the State of Baja California the “Casa Verde” pilot project involving the use of energy efficient Japanese equipment (inverter air conditioners, inverter refrigerator, LCDs and CFLs) and solar panels in a medium income house in the city of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. These energy efficiency measures are designed to generate electricity savings to the house owners, save energy consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote technology transfer between Japan and Mexico.

The project is financed by the Japanese Government, through the Ministry of Environment, and its objective is to generate opportunities to establish the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOM) with Mexico for climate change mitigation.

Thru the JRI-METI agreement for the BOM implementation, MGM Innova worked with the Baja California Authorities to identify the pilot house and structure the project and with Panasonic to identify a technology solution. The MGM Innova team carried out the energy audit, purchased and installed the technology, developed a methodology to account for emission reductions and monitored the house energy consumption before, during and after the project implementation.

MGM Innova Capital through its MCDF is currently working with the government of Baja California to design and structure a financial solution that will facilitate large scale implementation of the "Casa Verde" project for middle income residents of Baja California.
